Lucy’s 50th

Lucy’s 50th involved 16  2cv’s setting off from a private house near Beaulieu, at 1 minute intervals and navigating themselves along a 145km route, via the beautiful and scenic countryside around Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, the New Forest, Brockenhurst and north of Romsey.

Most of the couples lived in the area but still found themselves exploring new roads and villages in this wonderful part of the country.

After about 90 minutes, they stopped at Gambledown Farm near Romsey for a delicious ‘snack’ of sausage rolls, scones, cakes and tea before taking to their cars again for the 2 hour drive home.  This time they all left in convoy, having jostled for position as they left the ‘field carpark’ but were soon spread out after a few wrong turns were taken!

With roofs rolled back, road books dictating the turns, they made their way south for the challenge of the day!  The Blindfold challenge!  The long grass in the field had been mown, the course was obvious but the driver was blindfolded and the navigator had to direct the driver along the track in 1 minute 45 seconds, or as near to it!

The result was quite a few squashed cones, used to help define the course and a very nimble footed referee but everyone made it through with varying degrees of success!  The drivers then all headed home for a well earned drink and a delicious seafood lunch, looking out over the Solent.
