Employees, wives and bosses all came together for this wonderful day exploring the New Forest – 2CV Adventures met them at the Lymington Ferry and took them to the start of the event near Lymington. After the briefing and a familiarisation with the 2CV’s, they set off on their mystery journey, through the New Forest, with the aid of the roadbook and rally trip meter. Did anyone get lost? We shall never know but they all turned up for lunch at Gambledown Farm! Before lunch we had the ‘Reverse Steer Challenge’ in the field where they had to drive a 2CV round a course of traffic cones, but here’s the catch! ……… when one turned the steering wheel to the right the car went left! The object was to navigate the cones and complete the course in the quickest time possible but quite a few cones and flags were squashed, incurring 30 second penalty points, causing a lot of laughs all round!
Gambledown Farm looked after us beautifully and provided a delicious lunch of quiche, slices of beef, salad and potatoes, followed by strawberries and cream and a cheese board. After lunch the competitors set off on the 2 hour drive back through the beautiful New Forest heathland and forests, back to our base for tea and cake before catching the ferry back to Yarmouth.
